Third Trimester

Third Trimester! Plus: Stroller + Crib purchase details!

Today marks beginning of the end– the third trimester! WOOHOO! I am really excited. I can’t believe we’ve made it 28 weeks! Little baby girl is growing and she will be here in give or take 12 weeks, and that’s just INSANE.

In baby news, we made some good decisions. We picked out and purchased our stroller– the UPPA Baby Vista in Black

We chose black for cleanability and resale capacity. Originally, I thought i wanted to Britax b-Agile, but a friend recommended the UPPAbaby, and we went to our nearby retailer to try it out. Well, let me edit that- -we actually were going to said retailer to revisit the crib dilemma– I wanted to look at some other cribs since everything we found was striking out.

The stroller just happened to be there, a day after our friend had said “the stoller you registered for is not as good as the UPPAbaby,” and since I’ve tried to take all registry reccs seriously, I thought I owed it to myself and baby to try it out.

Let me tell you what– this stroller is amazing. Like, amazing. Here’s a video on it, to show you the features:

First off, this thing is CRAZY lightweight. Like, it’s so lightweight that it feels like you are pushing on air. It has great wheel movement, and is easy to push around. It has a one button collapse (yes!) comes with a bassinet, seat, and has adaptors for any car seat. There’s a huge basket in the base that can hold just about everything, and it comes with a moon roof, sun-screen, bug screen and a waterproof addition.

I played with it first and then went over to the Britax, and let me tell you what– that thing was like a monstrosity in comparison.  The choice became easy. After trying the weighted baby in it, and pushing it around the store, and seeing that it was on sale for $499 plus 50% off accessories, we decided to get it. And we pick it up today before our 28 week appointment, so I’ll let you know more once I get it in the box and in my hands.

We also decided on a Crib (which ironically also comes today)– at the store, I looked at lots of cribs, but the lady at the store said it would be at least 16 weeks to get anything. I was freaking, because we don’t really have 16 weeks anymore. I started looking online, and a friend of mine mentioned the site Layla Grace  LG has some ridiculously lovely cribs– I mean, like, the prettiest cribs ever. But, I happened upon one that not only fit the budget, also fit the aesthetic: the Franklin and Ben Arlington Crib:

It converts to a day bed, which was a bit of a bummer (I had wanted a full convertible) but figured this could last her a few lovely years and then we could get her a “big girl bed” and that would be fun. I loved the lines of this crib, and thought it was a perfect fit. I also liked that it could be here in 4-6 weeks. Imagine my shock and surprise when I got a call Friday telling us our crib would be delivered today (just 2 weeks after ordering!).

I think that this crib was honestly the cheapest thing on the LG website. They have some ridiculously beautiful things—- things I coveted and wanted, but I made a deal with DH that I was going to try to curb the crazy and be a little more practical about my baby purchases.

I will post a full review and pics of both the stroller and the crib when they get here and are unpacked. Our nursery is nearly ready to be painted (the room, walls, and ceilings needed a lot of repair work) so I now feel the pressure– we have less than 3 months to get ready for baby, and I know that time is going to fly by, so I am trying to get everything figured out and organized and DONE.

The next biggest thing: crib bedding. I’ve been really having a dilemma on this one– can’t wait to share all the options and the final decisions!
